Assess the site
Assess land rights, permitted use and technical requirements for data centre development in Germany. Outcome: an assessment profile identifying outstanding issues.
Explore site assessment ↗Developing sites. Planning energy supply from the outset.
Data centre development in Germany requires clear decisions on land, energy and capital. Nexosym combines site assessment, energy planning and development expertise for investors and family offices. Working with landowners, operators and energy partners, we clarify requirements and next steps.

EXPERIENCE ACROSS THE ENERGY VALUE CHAIN
Grid infrastructure, battery energy storage, renewable generation and business development: we bring together the perspectives that determine the viability of digital infrastructure.
Data centre development in Germany combines grid infrastructure, battery energy storage, renewable generation and business development. Our team brings together the perspectives that matter for digital infrastructure. For data centre sites in Germany, we jointly define the assessments, responsibilities and evidence required.
Working with capital partnersOUR CONTRIBUTION
Our data centre project development brings together sites, planning and energy. We agree a clear scope of work for data centre development in Germany. Services and responsibilities are defined for each assignment.
Assess land rights, permitted use and technical requirements for data centre development in Germany. Outcome: an assessment profile identifying outstanding issues.
Explore site assessment ↗Align specialist planning, operator requirements and permitting issues for data centre development in Germany. Outcome: defined responsibilities and next planning steps.
Understand energy concepts and grid planning ↗Reconcile connection requirements and grid operator feedback for data centre development in Germany. Outcome: a basis for assessing the connection, schedule and costs.
Explore grid connections and energy ↗Assess grid supply, procurement, generation and storage for data centre development in Germany. Outcome: comparable energy supply options.
Explore the energy concept ↗Coordinate the contributions of landowners, operators and capital providers to data centre development in Germany. Outcome: an assessment mandate with defined decision points.
Explore development partnerships ↗In data centre development in Germany, grid connection commitments and permits remain decisions for the relevant authorities and organisations. Data centre operation is envisaged for specialist operators; any additional Nexosym responsibilities are agreed for each project.
Powered Land is the overarching development approach. The data centre, grid, generation, storage, electricity procurement and heat users are considered together. The model illustrates possible connections, rather than an already secured set of assets.
Greenhouses or aquaponics facilities can use heat where temperature, distance and demand are suitable. Heat exchangers and, where necessary, heat pumps connect the circuits. Data centre cooling must continue to work even when no heat is taken off.

ACTION → POTENTIAL BENEFIT
The economics of data centre development in Germany become clearer when the site, energy supply and operator requirements are assessed together at an early stage. These five areas support cost and capital decisions; potential savings depend on the project and the alternatives being compared.
Identify connection, infrastructure and adaptation costs earlier. Low land costs alone do not demonstrate an economically viable solution.
Understand the capital required at each stage and the next approvals; link further expenditure to assessment findings.
Align capacity, expansion and cooling requirements in good time to reduce avoidable planning changes later on.
Compare procurement, generation and storage in terms of capital and operating costs. Cost reductions must be demonstrated in the overall model.
Make data gaps, conditions and responsible parties visible, making project review and handover easier.
SELECTED SITE CONCEPTS
Two anonymised profiles from our overview. The illustrations show concepts; they do not demonstrate completed Nexosym data centres.
Germany · Development concept
A phased concept incorporating energy supply and BESS. Connection capacity has not yet been contractually secured.
View site profile · Western Energy CampusAustria · Planning concept
A data centre site with an indicative planned scale. Connection capacity and permits still require site-specific clarification.
View site profile · Austria Campus 01THE TEAM
Our team combines experience gained at energy utilities, industrial companies and businesses we have founded. Grid connections, energy supply and development budgets are considered together. This experience comes from our team members’ professional careers and now informs their work at Nexosym.
Renewable energy, supply and delivery
Wolf-Henning Ohly has been involved in 18 wind farm projects and has managed and delivered over 200 photovoltaic projects. He has contributed to various energy supply and direct supply projects and delivered several industrial storage projects. He combines this practical experience with the development of site, energy and economic concepts for Nexosym.
Management and project development
Tim Leiwesmeier holds a B.Sc. in industrial engineering and combines technical and commercial experience in grid infrastructure and battery energy storage. His career includes technical sales of substations and establishing and developing the battery storage business at Westfalen Weser. At Nexosym, he leads operational management and brings his experience to site development and the coordination of technical and commercial project matters.
Grids, large-scale storage and technical systems
Marko Behlen holds an M.Sc. in electrical engineering and has many years of leadership experience in grid sales and large-scale energy storage. His career at energy utilities and in global product management at energy and power electronics companies brings together grid operator, storage and manufacturer perspectives. His expertise therefore centres on the technical assessment of energy infrastructure and storage solutions.
DEVELOPMENT WITH A CLEAR PATH
This overview explains how we work. “Our approach” describes the individual assessments; capital allocation and decision rights are addressed separately for investors.
